Moscow Grand Prix: Margarita rules

Margarita Mamun was the leader of the individual competition 4 golds (All Around, hoop, ball, clubs) and one bronze (ribbon). The young gymnast could be the answer to Viner’s research for the new number one in Russia’s team.

During these days the voices of Dmitrieva’s surgery bothered RG fans and have raised a question: who will be the leader of the strongest country of our sport? Rita could be a good pretender to the throne. But of course the season is just started and there are many rivals: the surprising Aleksandra Merkulova who came back to the carpet after only one month of training, with strong and well choreographed routines. Or Daria Svatkovskaya winner of the ribbon final and silver and bronze medalist ¬†with hoop and in the All Around competition. And finally don’t forget about Anna Trubnikova who won the Moscow tournament friday, another pearl trained by Rita’s same coach, the champion Amina Zaripova.

One of the revelations of this Grand Prix was Viktoria Mazur, the ukrainian girl is back to individual competition after one year as member of the national group that gained the 5th place at the All Around final in London. And now that Alina Maksymenko said that probably this will be her last season as gymnast, Anna Rizatdinova and Viktoria could be Ukraine’s next dream team, together with the emerging Anastasia Mulmina and the promising Eleonora Romanova (still junior for this year). What about Belarus? Charkashyna’s legacy is safe thanks not only to Staniouta, but also to one jewel of our sport, for her elegant style: Arina Charopa, who is showing her personality thanks to the dancing COP.

On the other side the situation seems well defined for groups: Russia’s new routines, very difficult and risky guaranteed 3 golds for them at the Grand Prix. While the fight for the 2nd place was between Ukraine (2 silvers during the EF and 1 bronze during AA) and Bulgaria (1 silver during AA and 2 bronze during EF). Both showed great tricks and the outcome of the rhythmic steps was very good in all the routines. Let’s see If and how will change the situation when all the countries will show their routines..
